User Flows / Using Miro: The Alumni Survey

Pen and paper: the ultimate user flow drafting tool! This is the first draft of what became the Miro map below.

We’re just over a week in, post-survey-launch, and the response has been quite strong. There are already some pretty clear indications that our initial hypothesis — that there is in fact an unmet demand for people formerly associated with Central City Opera to keep a meaningful connection to the company after their contract/tenure ends — is correct. That’s SUPER encouraging.

I’m convinced that we can go further, broader, deeper in terms of reaching the various subsets of our potential users — and have identified some strategies which I’ll roll out over the next couple of weeks — but one thing at a time.

In the meantime, today I sat down with Miro, a fantastic virtual whiteboarding and collaboration tool, and mapped out a user flow for the survey to show y’all what my thought process has been and how the pieces all fit together.

As I mentioned, I’m staying pretty firmly in GoogleLand for the moment because the components play well with each other AND they’re all (well, almost all, anyway) free.

This user flow (both the handwritten one and the Miro-generated one) accommodate a Frequently Asked Questions page, which didn’t exist when we first launched the survey. While most people have been clear on what it’s all about most of the time, based of responses so far, a little more clarity couldn’t hurt. The F.A.Q. will be added later in week 2 of the survey run.

Check it out!
