Renewable Energy and.... AI?
Ever wonder about the intersection of AI and renewable energy and/or energy transmission? We know that modernizing the grid is one of the core challenges of the global energy transition, but does AI have an actual role to play in that, as well?
David Miller, VP of Business Development at Gridmatic certainly thinks so. In fact it's a core value proposition of the company, which describes itself as an "AI-enabled power marketer."
"In the next five to ten years we're going to see a high level of automation that's going to roll out and be successful based on AI models," says Miller on the latest episode of The Interchange Recharged, a podcast with David Banmiller from Wood Mackenzie on technologies that underly the energy transition.
It's a great conversation that covers a lot of ground in a short time, including the chaotic weather impacts of climate change on energy demand, manual versus automated approaches to energy trading, and potential further ways that AI can be employed to tackle it all.
