Read, Watch, and Listen #1 -- Saturday, August 5, 2023

On a recent road trip past many utility-scale renewable projects in Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado, me in front of Prada Marfa, an totally fun permanent art installation in the far West Texas desert outside Marfa.

Hi there! Long time, no see. It’s summertime in Denver, so that means it’s hot in the afternoons, cool in the mornings, and all around still a lovely place to be year-round.

A number of interesting things are in flight for me now, including Product and business-transformation consulting opportunities for startups and scaleups, as well as a return to school (grad school, in fact!)

This summer I began coursework toward an eventual Master of Science in Global Energy Management at the University of Colorado, Denver. For now I’m just taking the graduate certificate, which is sort of a sampler platter of classwork designed to give me a taste of the larger program. Assuming all goes well, though, once I wrap up the certificate in summer 2024, there’s a very good chance I’ll dive in for the long haul.

While the broader program will deepen my exposure to and expertise in both new and legacy energy technologies and paradigms, my current studies are focusing on renewable project development and management (with policy, tech, and community/stakeholder engagement all thrown into the mix. It’s pretty fascinating and I can already see what would draw others to what essentially amounts to an MBA for those obsessed with what happens next in climate.

And while I’m at it, it occurs to me that, since so much of my energy (pun intended!) is going toward the renewables and sustainability space at the moment, I’d like to both share and keep track of the myriad articles, podcasts, and occasionally film/TV works that I’m reading, watching, or listening to in the space (along with other topics that are simply interesting, concerning, or cool). I honestly do this kind of sharing daily with friends and colleagues so it makes sense to begin a journal of it all here which I can share with you, O intrepid (and obviously tasteful!) reader.
